Step 3: The Website Checklist
The Do's
- DO ask for a delivery estimate.
- DO ensure that your quote covers any design changes.
- DO get some type of written guarantee that the work will be completed.
- DO get a detailed proposal of what you will be getting from your website.
- DO use professional email addresses: e.g. yourname@yourcompany.com.
- DO speak to the people delivering your website.
- DO say if you are not happy with a design attempt.
The Don'ts
- DON'T use free email addresses as your main contact email address this just looks unprofessional. Such as: gmail | hotmail | msn | btinternet.
- DON'T miss payments! Missing payments to web companies is not a good idea when they control your online presence and can easily turn it on and off.
- DON'T sign off the project until you have checked the finished site through and ideally by getting a few different opinions.
- DON'T pay in full up front!
- DON'T wait until the last minute to start gathering content for your site as this could delay your website going live.
- DON'T accept the first quote on bespoke projects. Unless it is a packaged price most companies will be able to go 20% lower.
